The brand, named “Prussian Blue,” was inspired by a friend who is a freediving enthusiast and a design professional. The name reflects the deep blue hue of Prussian blue, which closely resembles the rich, deep color of the ocean—a sight familiar to all divers. The logo features the tail of a marine mammal, a creature every diver dreams of encountering in the sea. This design, rendered with industrial-style rigid lines, captures the elegance of a whale’s tail. By incorporating these three elements—familiarity with the ocean, approachability, and durability—the brand aims to establish a strong connection with its users and convey an image of resilience and reliability.
Before freediving gained popularity in Taiwan, the brand’s founder - Chun-Chi Chiang had already immersed himself in the sport. Inspired by his experiences, he envisioned creating his own freediving fins. Taiwan’s abundant freediving opportunities, coupled with a rapid increase in freediving enthusiasts since 2018, highlighted the lack of a truly local brand producing high-quality fins entirely made in Taiwan. Drawing on years of expertise in composite materials, the founder developed carbon fiber fins with the goal of providing more equipment options to the Taiwanese freediving community. In January 2018, the brand “Prussian Blue” was officially launched, with the hope that locally crafted fins would accompany divers in experiencing the beauty of the ocean. These fins are not just sports gear but also a blend of artistry and craftsmanship.
Prussian Blue is more than just a local brand. In addition to operating its own production line, it also manufactures for several globally renowned brands. Today, the brand upholds a commitment to sustainability, continuously developing new products and technologies to enhance freediving equipment. Having gained international recognition and expanded exports to multiple countries, Prussian Blue not only serves Taiwan’s freediving community but also proudly showcases Taiwan’s manufacturing expertise to the world.
